Curaçao is an island in the Caribbean Sea and a country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It is situated some 37 miles north of the coast of Venezuela. Curaçao, as well as the rest of the ABC islands and Trinidad and Tobago, lies on the continental shelf of South America.
Visits in Curacao, in general, are trouble-free. The main tourist areas are generally safe, but tourists should take normal precautions regarding securing their belongings when out and about.
The best time to visit Curaçao is from May to November, during the off-peak season. During these months, Curacao is not vulnerable to hurricanes. In addition, visitors will find lower accommodation and flight rates.
Only 12 degrees north of the equator, Curaçao's average temperature rests in the mid-80℉ all year. If you prefer to dive or snorkel, you'll enjoy good visibility throughout the year. Marine life in Curacao is unaffected by seasonal changes because the island is located outside the hurricane belt.
Most native speakers will use Dutch, English, and Papiamentu with equal aplomb. Dutch is the official language, while Papiamentu is the most common. Spanish is also spoken by most Curacaons, and English is widely used.
