The ideal time to visit Cyprus is during the spring season which often arrives as early as February. If a traveler is a fan of flowers, it is best to visit from March to April when wildflowers bloom including 40 species of orchids popping up across mountains and hillsides.
The heat starts during May and lasts until October. Summer is the best time for sea turtles with conservation projects to be found on Lara Bay and Alagadi Beach. Consider a getaway before the cold and rain of December to January because prices start to fall in autumn.
The usual common-sense rules apply in Cyprus around keeping your belongings safe in your hotel room and when out in restaurants and bars. Look out for the risk of drink spiking by buying your own drinks, and staying with friends when on nights out. It is safer to take precautionary measures for yourself.
Cyprus, officially the Republic of Cyprus, is an island country in the eastern Mediterranean Sea south of the Anatolian Peninsula. It is the third-largest and third-most populous island in the Mediterranean and is located south of Turkey, west of Syria, northwest of Lebanon, Israel, and the Gaza Strip (Palestine), north of Egypt, and southeast of Greece.
The official languages of the Republic of Cyprus are Greek and Turkish. In Northern Cyprus, Turkish was made the only official language. The everyday spoken language of the majority of the population is Cypriot Greek. For official purposes, the standard languages (Standard Modern Greek and Standard Turkish) are used.
