The city where the traditional and the modern collide!
Due to a rather tumultuous modern history and wood based traditional construction techniques, there are actually no buildings left in Tokyo dating back to the pre-modern period. Does this unfortunate fact, this city became entirely modern, leaving its long past and its traditions behind ? No, not at all, actually!
The most fascinating thing about living in Tokyo is how this busy megapolis makes the very modern, the plain eccentric and the highly traditional cohabit, sometimes right next to each other! For example, it is not an uncommon sight in Tokyo to see a small shinto shrine being just next to a high rise office block or inhabitants celebrating a centuries-old local festival within a contemporary residential area.
Seeing and experiencing first hand these contrasts are really what makes Tokyo a unique city to visit ! So, join me on this private tour where I will aim to show you Tokyo's many aspects, from its rich past and traditions to its eccentric, vibrant, modernity!

A Recent Review of this tour
Read More Reviews For This TourPascal's tour was way beyond my expectation. I saw things in Tokyo that I never would have considered and it gave me a greater level of understanding of the history of this amazing city. His knowledge is diverse and his choice of places to see perfect for what I was looking for. If I could give him 10 stars I would. I have great appreciation for the time I have spent with him in Tokyo. Highly highly recommended!
