Loved by children, adults and elderly, meatballs are a timeless dish of Italian cuisine. Originally invented as a way to recycle leftovers from the day before, meatballs can be created with anything from your cupboard and fridge: meat, cheese, fish, vegetables, legumes. . . and the way to cook them are various as well !
On this cooking class, I want to share with you how my mother used (and still does) to cook them when I was a child : meatballs with tomato sauce. Keep in mind that with this recipe it's crucial to serve on the table a good loaf of homemade bread for the final "scarpetta", an essential custom for this amazing dish !

Itinerary
Check in and introduction
During the Live Virtual Tour Cooking Class I'll lead you step by step in the creation of a perfect dish of the Original Italian Meatballs
We will start by checking the ingredients and tools in order to be sure you have everything you need for preparing the compound for meatballs and the sauce
Once the dough is ready we will procede creating by hands the little meatballs together, giving them the right shape and size.
While all our meatballs will rest on a tray, we will prepare the tomato sauce and voila, our dish will be ready to be served on the table.
During the cooking class you will have plenty of time to ask questions and you are invited to interact during all the cooking process. The purpose of this virtual tour is to share and spread Italian cooking culture.

2/3 cup (150g) of minced beef
1 egg
2 tablespoon of parmesan cheese
2 tablespoon of ricotta cheese OR 2 tbsp (30 g) of dry bread soaked in milk
1 slice of mortadella or baked ham
garlic 1/4 clove
1 tbsp chopped parsley
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg or a grated sprinkle
fine salt at taste
black pepper at taste
For the sauce
3 tablespoons of extra vergine olive oil
1/2 carrot
1/2 stalk of celery
1/2 onion depending on size
2 cups (500g) tomato sauce (passata)
fine salt to taste
black pepper to taste
