The highlights of a beautiful mountain village
Karuizawa is an hour northwest of Tokyo by bullet train. Set in forests and farmland at the foot of beautiful Mt. Asama, it's a special mixture of nature and culture. In the Edo period, it was a post-town. In the 19th century, Westerners came and Japanese artists and writers followed. John Lennon was a regular visitor because every time of the year is so special. Because of the altitude (1000 meters) there are four distinct seasons. The spring is full of blossoms and flowers. The summer is green and cool because it's up from the Kanto plain. The autumn leaves are spectacular. And in winter there's snow.
I've lived here for ten years now. It's a small town but it's a cosmopolitan one. There are many fine dining opportunities. There are also many cultural experiences that I can organize for you, like meeting local people and taking part in local activities.

Transportation
Travelers will find their own way to Karuizawa, taking public transport or a taxi to the bullet-train station in Tokyo, and then taking the bullet-train to Karuizawa.
In Karuizawa itself either public transport, a taxi, or for a large group a hire car, will be used. A hire car will affect the tour price in which case please ask me for a quote.
