Kent: The Garden of England : One Day Private Driving Tour around the castles, gardens and cathedrals of Kent
Kent is an undiscovered gem! Very few tourists from abroad are familiar with this beautiful and historic part of England which is very close to London. I have been visiting this area for over 30 years and it still full of wonderful surprises.
We can explore one of England's loveliest counties on a one or two day tour. There are options to visit the stunning gardens of Sissinghurst and the impressive Leeds, Dover or Hever Castles. The town of Canterbury provides the perfect base from which you can get to know this lovely county and there is much to discover in the town and its awe inspiring cathedral.
You can also visit one or two of the stunning English villages and taste some English wine (yes, it exists!) on this tour and also look out to France from the White Cliffs of Dover.
On the way back into London you can also visit the family home of Sir Winston Churchill at Chartwell. " a day away from Chartwell was a day wasted" he once said.
Seeing is believing in this most beautiful of English counties.
Itinerary
There are flexible itinerary options for this tour and it can be easily customised to suit your preferences. Here are 3 examples of typical One Day tours:-
Option 1: One Day Tour : Leeds Castle and Canterbury
- Travel from C. London to visit beautiful Leeds Castle
- Move on to the medieval town of Canterbury (30 minutes away) to visit the cobbled streets and see the spectacular Cathedral.
Option 2: Sissinghurst and Chartwell
- Depart London. Visit the lovely and historic Sissinghurst Gardens in the morning and Churchill's home at Chartwell in the afternoon. "A day away from Chartwell is a day wasted. " - Sir Winston Churchill
Option 3: Dover Castle, The White Cliffs, Battle of Britain Monument and village of Sandwich
Depart London : Visit Dover Castle, where the Dunkirk evacuation was planned and the iconic White Cliffs. Then on to the small medieval market town of Sandwich
