Let's walk around the majestic shrine and woods.
Nikko is in a national park that lies in the north of Tokyo. It is famous for the elaborate shrine and temple on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
Especially, Toshogu Shrine is incredibly gorgeous. It is dedicated to the deified spirit of the founder of the current Tokyo, Ieyasu Tokugawa. He was the first shogun of the Edo Military Government from the 17th through the mid 19th century.
A 2-hour train ride takes you to Nikko.
You can expose yourself to nature, and can recognize some intellectual pearls of wisdom that were installed in the shrine buildings. Nikko is a recommendable place for those who want to shun busy Tokyo and learn a part of Japanese history.
