From Lisbon to Sintra, a full day trip passing by Cascais
In this tour, I will show you one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal and some of the most fantastic and iconic buildings, gardens and landscapes of Portugal.
By the same time that the Portuguese People were conquering Lisboa to the moors, after a 15 weeks long siege, the inhabitants of Sintra simply surrender and decided to give the city away, without fighting. . .
All this happened in 1147 and nobody really knows the reason why; I like to think that it was because they wanted to preserve their Princess, Cynthia(the Arabic name)!
Until 1910, all the royal families use to live in Sintra during long periods over the year. King Manuel was there when he received the news that Vasco da Gama had arrived to India.
Queen Amelia used to stay in Pena Palace for long seasons; her husband, King Charles prefered Cascais
Palaces, mansions and tailored gardens are a great part of the landscape.
By the mountains and by the ocean, with good fish and seafood in the middle, It will be a great day, I'm sure

Itinerary
We will leave Lisbon and go directly to Sintra, where we can visit one of the monuments of this amazing town, taste the city's traditional pastry and take a peek in chalets and monuments, and also the Palace da Pena and the Castle of the Moors at the top of the mountain.
We will then leave for the countryside and to the shore, where cliffs and spectacular small beaches carved in the rocks are waiting for us. Adraga Beach, Aguda Beach, Azenhas do Mar, and Praia das Maçãs are some of the ones we can visit.
After, Cape of Roca, the westernmost place in Europe and then, on the way back to Lisbon, we may also visit Cascais, a beautiful village in the end of the Tagus river mouth, with very nice beaches and the best ice cream in Portugal!
