Discover a centuries old city where Charles Darwin stayed in for 10 weeks!
Punta del Este is mostly known for its beaches and modern urban landscape, but its history dates back to the early 16th century, and has since witnessed incredibly significant global events such as Charles Darwin's Voyage of the Beagle and WWII's Battle of the River Plate.
Not only will you enjoy this region's singular surroundings but also its main historical landmarks, visiting 2 different cities that are deeply intertwined. We'll even get to see friendly sea lions at the port! Not to mention, a panoramic view of the sea, with its hills and islands, from an overlook point where 16 whales were once seen simultaneously. This point is next to the incomparably beautiful Casapueblo, home and arts workshop of the father of one of the Andes flight disaster survivors. From a dictatorship-era prison that became a music and dance lessons center, to the house of an international plants collector that is now a museum and one of the world's biggest eucalyptus reserves, this tour has no shortage of unique experiences.

A Recent Review of this tour
Read More Reviews For This TourGonzalo was a fabulous guide from start to finish. He arrived early, met us as we got to the port exit, provided excellent transport vehicle and driver. His knowledge of the area toured, including political, cultural, and historical references was encyclopedic. He was also very responsive to our group's questions and interests. And, since we wanted to tour more and take time to eat less, he took us to a delicious cafe for takeout- Uruguayan style!
