The girls enjoyed walking the streets of Salvador with her and viewing the great artwork - they particularly enjoyed being able to meet one of the artists and interacting with other people - it gave them the sense they were actually there. The rain also added to that authentic feel ;-)

United StatesWe loved visiting Jorge Amado's home! Sayuri explained the comparison between Jorge's writings with Mark Twain. Jorge came from a simple background and his home reflects this. It is warm, inviting and and filled with souvenirs from celebrities from near and far.

United StatesSayuri took us on a tour to Salvador where we saw the gates of the Museum of Modern Art. How wonderful to walk into the colorful houses at Solar do Unhao Comunidade! We got a glimpse of the volunteer painters expertly spray painting the walls and doors with lively and vibrant colored murals. The tour ended at Casa de Dona Suzana's backyard where we saw how Muqueca is made. Sayura includes maps so we know where we are going and is so personable!

CanadaSayuri's enthusiasm and the images of the blue water and sky were a nice departure from the Canadian winter confinement. Sayuri allowed us to witness life in a favela rich in street art and food (in particular Dona Suzana's Re-restaurant). She cautioned us that the internet connection would be lost in some places, but that simply added to the authenticity of an « off the beaten path » tour. Thank you Sayuri!

United StatesSayuri is exceptional!! Thanks to Sayuri, my best friend and I were able to keep our annual tradition of traveling together come to life...together yet from afar. I reside in Las Vegas & Diana resides in the U.K. Since 2004 we fulfilled a promise (cheers with sangria!) to travel annually. Sayuri helped our tradition continue and it was such a delightful tour! Her pre "visit" package of music and slides helped tremendously to get a feel of where we were visiting!! She is well known amongst the locals!
