He had wonderful recommendations on which cities to tour along the way; Obidos, Nazare, Coimbra and Aveiro. He is knowledgeable about each city, Portugal history and current day life. He made to day trip very pleasant and gave us great recommendations for things to do in Porto, books to read and restaurants! Definitely recommend Rui as your guide!

CanadaAmazing day with Rui! He is a wealth of knowledge about Portugal and it's history, especially the Knights Templar. We made 4 stops(Fatima, Tomar, Nazare and Coimbra) and he allowed us to take all the time we wanted at each stop. What was booked as an 8 hour day, ended being an 11 day and we enjoyed every moment of it. Rui is a pleasure to spend a day with and we feel after our tour we have a much better understanding of the Portuguese and their history. Thank you for everything Rui!

Our drive to Porto included side trips to Obidos & Coimbra with an additional stop at a seaside resort for lunch. United StatesOnce again we were very pleased with the guide provided by Tours By Locals. Rui was excellent. A careful driver, and very courteous and helpful to us at each stop. We had prearranged 4 stops en route, Obidos, Nazarre, Aveiro and Alcobaca. He was a superb guide at each of them. He told us of the history and culture of each area, and described how they varied between the regions of Portugal. Very educational and his english was easy to understand. We would use him as a guide again.
