Sintra: Romanticism OR the Middle Age
We'll start the day by driving to Sintra, a fascinating small town at the foot of the 528m/1732ft mountain. Endowed with luxuriant vegetation, it is part of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.
Fairytale castles and palaces will take you back in time; a special nook that led UNESCO to classify it as a World heritage site.
Let's go inside the Vila National Palace, a 13th century summer residence of our royal family with amazing tiles and inspiring rooms that will help you imagine how life was back then.

Let's drive towards Monserrate, unbelievably calm, this was the home to several English families since the 18th century. It's a true masterpiece.
The ideal quiet spot to learn about its connection to the first hospital of Lisbon, writers like William Beckford and Lord Byron, Sir Francis Cook the British trader and art collector, who, all together made Monserrate one of the most beautiful places in Portugal.
Drive back to Lisbon.
Itinerary
Departure from Lisbon towards Sintra's historic centre (45min) and stop to wander around the beautiful little town (30min).
Drive to Monserrate Palace&Park (approx. 15min) to visit (approx 1h45) the interior and its park.
Return to Lisbon (approx 45min).
NOTE: Monserrate Palace close on Jan 1st and Dec 25th.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Monserrate palace is down a steep road inside a park with many ups and downs so you might wanna consider this fact if you have mobility issues or get tired easily.
National Vila Palace has many steps inside over 100 but not all at once but you might also wanna consider this detail as there are no elevators in its interior.

Transportation
Modern, clean, air-conditioned, very spacious, brand new private minivan
A minibus can be rented at an additional cost - contact me for a quote.
It is extremely important that you mention luggage if it will need to be carried. The minivan is very spacious but if you're 7 carrying large suitcases, carry-ons and backpacks you really need to let me know in advance so that there aren't any surprises and things will work out just fine!
