Saint Martin is an island in the northeast Caribbean Sea, approximately 300 km east of Puerto Rico. The island is located south of Anguilla and is separated from that British overseas territory by the Anguilla Channel. Saint Martin is northwest of Saint Barthélemy and is separated from that French overseas collectivity by the Saint-Barthélemy Channel.
It is best to visit St. Martin from May to June if you're looking for lower hotel prices and warm temperatures. Temperature can reach up to the mid-80℉. The island's weather is pleasant year-round.
Visiting from November to mid-December is also ideal as visitors can experience the comfortable weather that the winter season is known for with temperatures that would range from the mid-70℉ to low 80℉ on average.
Most visits to the Dutch Caribbean are trouble-free. The island is just as safe as other island getaways. The Government of St. Maarten is continuously monitoring global developments to ensure the safety of visitors and citizens. Still, visitors are advised to exercise normal precautions.
Dutch is the official language but, as on the French side, English is commonplace. Visitors may also hear Spanish, French, Papiamentu, Italian, Hindi, Chinese and other languages on both sides of the island.
