Journey to the land of two leaves and one bud

The North-Eastern part of Bangladesh is known for its production of large quantity and high quality tea. The hillocks rising to moderate heights, and the relatively higher rainfall in this part of Bangladesh made this region suitable for tea plantation. This fact was realized by the British tea planters and they started cultivating tea in this region of Bangladesh in the 18th century.
The moist environment of this region has enabled the growth of few rich tropical forests in this region flourishing with many wildlife, scented orange groves and pineapple plantations. The Lawachhara forest of this part of Bangladesh is home to globally endangered Hoolock Gibbon.
Beside the tea plantation sites and tropical forests, the hills of this region are home to Khasia and Monipuri indigenous groups. Sylhet is also famous among the Muslims of Bangladesh due to the shrine of a 14th century Sufi saint.

A Recent Review of this tour

Borhan was an excellent guide with great attention to the details of our travel. We would highly recommend him to others wishing to learn something of Bangladesh. Our only recommendation to others, especially if heat/humidity sensitive - DO NOT come to Bangladesh in September.
