A drive through derbyshire dales, Britains oldest national park, much less frequented by overseas visitors.

A day tour from Sheffield of some highlights of the peak district national park. This short tour includes a great number of places of interest including some beautiful derbyshire dales, the pretty towns of Ashford, Castleton, Hope and Bakewell together with much history including the plague vilage of Eyam, the caves and castle at Castleton and Ladybower reservoir where Barnes Wallis tested the bouncing bomb during WWII.

Itinerary

the usual itinerary is:
1. Ladybower. where barnes wallis tested the bouncing bomb
2. Mam Tor (short walk to the summit, weather permitting)
3. Castleton. walk in the village and to Peverell castle
4. Monsal Head
5. Ashford in the water (sheepwash bridge, market cross and tithe barn)
6. Bakwell (for puddings)
7. Eyam, the plague village. Visit to the museum, and church, and see the cottages where the plague victims lived and died. (or in reverse)

Meeting Point Options: Rail or Bus Station, Cruise Ship Port, Airport, Hotel, Address or Intersection, Monument/Building

A Recent Review of this tour

Keith is particularly suited for this tour of the Derbyshire countryside because he was a geology major in college. And to really understand the The stunning views, it was punctuated by Keith's perspectives. As well, because he is a photography enthusiast, he naturally sees views from the most beautiful ankle. He had a very easy attitude, and was very accommodating.
